A delegation of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council participated in the largest Regional Business Summit of ASEAN countries- ASEAN Business & Investment Summit, which was held on November 2-3, 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. More than 1,500 business representatives took part in the work of the business summit. The official delegation of the Russian Federation at the business summit was lead by Prime Minister Mr. Dmitry Medvedev, who delivered an opening speech. Mr. Medvedev noted within his speech that main aim of Russian authorities is to create technologies that would benefit the people, make their lives more comfortable and save their time. And this is what our efforts are aimed at. Russia boasts strong schools in mathematics, physics, and information technologies. «We are removing digital inequality among the different parts of our country. You know that Russia is an enormous country, with the world’s largest area. And what they call digital disparity is definitely an issue. We are establishing infrastructure to make information more accessible. Russian digital technologies must also enter public administration. We pay special attention to cyber security. Russia is ready to share its experience with ASEAN nations as well to use the successful practices of our ASEAN colleagues, even more so since we are facing similar challenges. According to experts, digital technologies will generate up to eight percent of the region’s GDP by 2030, which means conditions must be created for their introduction» - Prime Minister Mr. Dmitry Medvedev said. For the first time, a Russian booth was placed at the ASEAN Business & Investment Summit - a joint booth of the Moscow Government and the Russia-ASEAN Business Council, projects of Russian companies, including in the field of smart cities, digitalization of transport infrastructure, and cyber security were presented at the booth. Russia-ASEAN Business Council and Thailand company Datagate signed a Memorandum of cooperation on 3 November 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. In the framework of the Memorandum, it is planned to develop cooperation on the joint developing and supplying high-tech telecommunication, IT and ICT solutions for the digital infrastructure of the Kingdom of Thailand and ASEAN States as a whole. Some of the high-tech solutions of Russian companies will be displayed at the Tri-Service Asian Defense & Security Exhibition from 18 to 21 November 2019 in Bangkok.
