The Russia-ASEAN Business Council organized the Russia-ASEAN Business Dialogue, which took place within the the Eastern Economic Forum-2022. The event took place on September 6, 2022 in Vladivostok, Russia. In his welcoming speech, moderator of the business dialogue, Chairman of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council Ivan Polyakov noted that in order to expand scientific, technical and innovative cooperation between Russia and ASEAN Memeber states, 2022 has been declared the Year of Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Russia and ASEAN, within which a series of joint industry events is being held, as well as the launch of implementation of a number of high-tech projects.

President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin stated in his speech in detail the state of trade and economic cooperation, noting that Russia's trade turnover with the ASEAN member states increased by 27% by the end of 2021, amounting to $ 19.9 billion. "Russia's trade turnover with the ASEAN countries is distinguished by a wide range of products, nevertheless, it is important to work on the formation of effective financing mechanisms, the establishment of direct flights," Sergey Katyrin said.

Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Kang Zo said that the ASEAN member States have developed a detailed plan to overcome the crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic, which correlates with the Sustainable development Goals: overcoming poverty, quality education, fair working conditions and economic growth. In addition, the Minister noted that the ASEAN member countries are actively working to create a closed-cycle economy based on the principles of energy efficiency and inclusive development.

The President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Alexander Shokhin in his speech drew attention to the existence of a disparity in investments, out of $ 13 billion. investments from Russia to ASEAN member countries 12 billion Referring to the Republic of Singapore, he urged business to actively develop cooperation with other countries of the association, saying that leading Russian associations are currently working on creating a digital platform for finding partners.

Alexey Kulapin, Director General of the Russian Energy Agency of the Ministry of Energy of Russia, noted that a promising area of cooperation between Russia and the ASEAN countries is the formation of a market for carbon units and ensuring trade in quotas for greenhouse gas emissions, in particular, an experiment to limit greenhouse gas emissions has already been launched in the Sakhalin Region.

Didit Ratam, Head of the Committee for Cooperation with Russia of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, told the participants about the priorities of the Indonesian chairmanship in the G20 and B20, as well as about the work to expand global cooperation in the transition to sustainable energy by reducing coal processing and creating effective financing mechanisms.

Nikolay Volobuev, Deputy General Director of the Rostec State Corporation, Chairman of the Russian-Singapore Business Council, informed about the work of the RS Trade international digital platform designed to promote Russian industrial goods of civil use in the non-primary sector of the economy to the countries of Southeast Asia, whose services are used by more than 100 thousand market participants.

Sergey Korolev, Deputy General Director for Regional Development of the Russian Environmental Operator, spoke about the work carried out by the company to form a closed-cycle economy, financing mechanisms and investment attractiveness in accordance with ESG principles. "At the moment, work is underway to implement projects under the terms of concession agreements on waste recycling, of which 20 projects are being implemented in the Far East, we are ready to share our experience with partners from ASEAN member states," Sergey Korolev said.

During the business dialogue, an active discussion of promising areas and initiatives to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and ASEAN in the trade, economic, and investment spheres took place.
