Virtual business seminar "Overview of the Russian economy and its opportunities for Indonesia"

The Russia-ASEAN Business Council took part in the business seminar «Overview of the Russian economy and its opportunities for Indonesia», which was held on February 5, 2021 via videoconference. More than 50 representatives of companies and government agencies from Russia and Indonesia participated in the seminar, during which the participants discussed the prospects for the development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Indonesia, as well as exchanged views on further enhancing bilateral business cooperation.

Jose Tavares, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to Russia, in his welcoming speech noted the vast potential of Russian-Indonesian cooperation and stressed the need to further intensify trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Ivan Polyakov, Chairman of the Russia-ASEAN Business Council, highlighted the main promising areas for the development of bilateral business relations, in particular, in the agro-industrial complex, energy, pharmaceuticals, as well as in the field of infrastructure, digitalization and information technology.

Sergey Khitrov, head of the RBC Market Research analytical group, presented an analytical report on the current state of the Russian economy and opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and Indonesia.

Yose Rizal Damuri, Head of the Department of Economics of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies of Indonesia, and Rainer Tobing, Deputy Chairman of the Jakarta Chamber of Commerce, noted the main barriers to the development of Russian-Indonesian trade and economic relations, as well as opportunities and prospects for cooperation.
